Congratulations to Bob Reed, Riccardo Papa, Chris Jiggins and Owen McMillan on their recent publication featured in Science Magazine! Their article “Optix Drives the Repeated Convergent Evolution of butterfly wing pattern mimicry” reveals that a single gene, optix is responsible for controlling radical variations in red coloration across Heliconius butterflies.
